Home Page ImageThis update is about Jaymee our House Finch. She gave my Mom quite a scare on Sunday during one of those thunderstorms that might as well feel like a mini hurricane. It is not hurricane season yet but it felt like it had started.
Jaymee got agitated not because of the rain but because the wind was making the blinds thing over the balcony flap up and down and her perches were flying all over the balcony.
My Mom went out there to secure the blinds and to relocate Jaymee's condo to a dryer spot and away from the balcony railing. All it took was for my Mom to owen the sliding glass door and the bird flew inside the bedroom and she hid. My Mom couldn't find ther anywhere and it took my Dad to make Jaymee come out of her hiding place. She hid between my mom's books. Trust me, my Mom has piles and piles aof books so I can see why the bird chose the bookshelf. She didn't poop on any of the books or I have not heard my Mom complain about it yet. I guess she was too happy Jaymee had not gotten away through a hole in the screen or something like that.
Keep coming back, my Mom is constantly taking picutures of the bird, me and Baby Cassie my hamster.

Sunday May 15th, 2011

On sunday we had a thunderstom in our area. Lots of wind and rain, Jaymee's balcony got wet with the blinds flapping around messing up the tree branches I had collected for her to perch on. Jaymee was not happy about the wheather so she found rescue inside my parents' bedroom amongst my Mom's stack of books.
I secured the balcony blinds and relocated Jaymee's condo but I lost sight of her and I couldn't find her. Luckily, the bird was hiding safely until Jason came into the room. Jaymee didn't want to go back outside so my Jason had to let her perch on his shoulder and Jason and the bird went downstairs together until things calmed down.
Below there is the video of Jaymee after things were calm outside. Her tail is wet but because that's what she chose to do. She went feather dipping in the water left over on the balcony floor!
Check out the video below. This file is quite large so be patient and wait for it to load up.

  • What a thunderstorm! What a thunderstorm! This is the first time Jaymee experiences one.
  • She was agitated. She was agitated.

Below there's a video of Jamie after the storm died down. Her tail is wet not because she was out there in the elements but because
after the rain and wind stopped, she went to the balcony and took a dive in the water.
