Nicolas had to create a 3D model with the following guidelines:
The name of the tribe
What type of home the assigned tribe lived in
Clothing worn by the tribe
The different crafts the tribe created
The tribe’s food
Method of transportation
Below are some of the pictures and information on the tribe he randomly selected.
A 5th. Grade Diorama
The Mohegan comes from the Mohegan word mohiingan, which means wolf.
The Mohegan people –not to be confused with the Mohicans- consist of many originally independent tribes including the Pequots and Montauks.
5th. Grade DioramaThis is the projecet in its initial stage, the wire frame for the mountain backdrop.
Nicolas' human figures being modelled
Modelling clay at its best
Paper mache being prepared as the foundation skin layer for the mountain, lots of glue and newspaper scraps
The Mohegans didn't live in tepeesThey lived in small round houses called wigwam or Wetus which means “house”. Sometimes they are also known as birchbark houses.
A hunting scene by Nicolas. The dear was supposed to face the hunter but glueing the figures was like glueing butter
o.k. all of the kids assumed the mother was going to throw the baby in the river. Don't ask me why.
