The fireworks are on, I can hear the music coming from all sides around my house. People are having fun and probably starting their welcoming rituals for the new year.
IThis is the day of the year when I miss my family the most. Los pasteles, the corn patties, empanadas and the parties. The preparations to go out and enjoy the festivities with friends and cousins.
Now that Jason and i have our own family, we have created our own rituals and traditions which I'll try and list here.
Anyway, my boy loves, loves, loves all of his presents and here is the list: Kindle Fire -which he opened early by intercepting the delivery-
LEGO City Fire Station (7208)
>Lego Police Dog Unit 7285
>LEGO Police Prisoner Transport 7286
>LEGO Mobile Police Unit 7288
>Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! Voices from a Medieval Village, a series of poems by Laura Amy Schlitz
>Angry Birds Mini Plush red bird
>Angry Birds 12" Plush King Pig With Sound
>Angry Birds Piglet Squeeze Pillow
>A gorgeous Angry Birds display box where Santa put all of those items in
>Tomica Pizza Shop
>He received a Scrabble Slam Deluxe card game, a card with $5.00 insidefrom Mary our elderly neighbor
>BMW 3 series 1:43 diecast metal model 1/43 scale M Toy
>Mercedes S63 AMG1:43 diecast metal model 1/43 scale -The seller from Ebay included a free diecast with the shipment, how awesome is that?
It seems like a lot but keep in mind that most of the above itemss listed were small.
What took us the parents by surprise was the enthusiasm with which the Angry Birds plush pillow was received by Nicolas; he's been carrying it around since he discovered it, the Kindle Fire and the last minute present containing a simple boombox with a special feature _USB plug- of being able to plug in a memory stick/mp3 player and that can also play CD-RW's. Jason loves that little boombox because now he doesn't have to cut music onto a permanent CD-R unless he wants to make the tunes permanent.
From the neigbor's, the military family, he received a LEGO game. We've played it already.

Oh the joy of finding Angry Birds under the tree.
Although receiving money, is as much fun! Thank you Mary read more > read more >
Picture of Nicolas with the Angry Birds he crafted with wooden balls from Michaels, paints and brushes. He crafted those to create his own challenges using the Melissa and Doug wooden castle pieces he's had since he was a todler. His imagination and creativity is always at hight speed.
