Baby Sparrow Lavina Day 2 with Us: Her Sling Basket, June 14, 2013

Baby Sparrow Lavina has been in our care for 2 days now. He/She is thriving and it's a lot stronger. He/she has started imprinting on us and responding to our whistling. She is thriving on her dry food compote diet and lots of feathers keep growing and she is just doing great. Her/his wing feathers are fanning out and it looks so cute with that featherless rear.
The next evening when Nicolas and I came back from my friend Nancy's house, Jason came out to greet us with a crying baby bird inside the halloween wired basket. He had this silly grin on his face. I told him we should have had another baby and he told me we should have more birds.
Growing up Sparrow. Jason found the website below while researching the possible age of our foundling. Baby Lavina or Baby Jack Sparrow -we don't know the gender yet- is very strong and doing great under our care. She/He is is nestling in a small bread basket hanging from cousin Jamie's dog carrier. Cousin Jamie is very intrigued by the baby chirps but has not yet stepped up to help feed the baby. We hope her instincts will kick in soon and she'll be able to approach the chick. We have been on hand feeding and bird diapering duty for more than 36hrs now. It's a labor of love so I've been carrying the baby bird in a sling. It loves to feel skin and hear heartbeat. Enjoy the pictures!
