READING MATERIALS

It is important that reading selections for your students are appropriate: not too difficult, interesting, and rich in vocabulary and learning opportunities. Students starting at the very beginning need resources which provide practice in the Alphabet, Phonics, and Phonemic Awareness. Students just beginning to read require books that allow them to practice Sight Words and Basic Vocabulary. Graded Material should be used for students who can decode below grade level and need to expand their skills while acquiring a love of reading. You can learn to level material you use in class or online. There is also a welath of public domain texts that you can read online or download for free for your Advanced students. Another option is to purchase leveled material: my favorite sources are listed here.
